For anyone looking for something to do this weekend, look no further than Frog at Cornell.
The indie rock duo will be performing tomorrow on Saturday, March 8th, at Cornell University. Originating from New Rochelle, outside of Manhattan, Frog has received critical acclaim and fans worldwide across the past decade. They may be best known for songs such as “You Know I’m Down” and “Judy Garland”. Following the release of their newest album in February, they now have performances lined up across the country in the coming weeks.
Their newest album, titled “1000 Variations on the Same Song”, is actually a set of just 11 songs. It has a lighthearted, fun energy that feels very fitting for the band’s humorous name. Although the songs are similar to one another, they each have different instruments and melodies to keep them fresh and unique. The short runtime also serves as a benefit to this, coming in at just under 35 minutes. When listening to their music, it is clear how much fun they have making it.
The FMs
Joining them for this performance is The FMs, a queer alt-punk band founded in 2017. They are known for mixing industrial and synth sounds, and honest and political lyrics. Originating in NYC, they are now based in Ithaca following the tragic death of one member. They are often active in the Upstate New York area, with more shows in Ithaca and Rochester later this month.
For any fans of Modest Mouse, Bright Eyes, Alex G, or other similar indie rock styles, Frog is a band worth checking out. For anyone in the area, seeing Frog at Cornell is a great idea for tomorrow. Doors open at 6, and the show starts at 7. Tickets are free, and RSVPs can be made through the Cornell University website HERE.
